Admitting that Jesus Christ died for us and that we are sinners.  Everyone is a sinner and needs salvation.

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Believing that Christ died for our sins on a cross, so that we may have everlasting life.  

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 14:6

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Confessing that you are a sinner and ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you. 

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

We are all sinners, but through Jesus Christ we have hope and a Heavenly home. Once saved, find a church to join.  Praying and reading/studying the bible are ways to stay close to God.  Always put him first in everything you do.
